air dry clay

air dry clays are a wonderful alternative to polymer clays when you might be limited during high cooking seasons such as holidays when the oven is in constant use for "food" and not just creative things...although i must say cooking can be a great creative outlet and getting to eat the finished results is always a plus, but air dry clays offer the ability to be used with out the need of an oven and have terrific results but just maybe not as detailed as polymer clay....also the making of small things like dolls fingers and ears are often not suitable for air dry clays as it tends to be weaker than polymer clays but i have done it just had to make very sturdy hands ect..
my favorite air dry clays are la doll and premier...but DAS air dry clay is great for large sculpts and broaches, beads and other type goodies...right now i'm using la doll to to make a deranged rabbit for a fan challange over at the Grim city underground...this is a group of super talented ladies that focus on the Darker side of art and creating and being that life has a dark side to it this is a very real way of self exspression thats not often talked about nor viewed...i do not feel as if dark art gets the appreciation it deserves often and that is sad because dark art serves a "need" in society where others can see and feel the beauty of this diverse yet creative art form...with that said i'm still in the WIP stages of my deranged bunny/rabbit...he kinda reminds me of the rabbit that attended the tea party in Alice in wonder land except mines well...he is in a straight jacket...who wants a deranged rabbit runnung loose???? not me...hehehe...at this stage i've no photo's of him yet to post but i will leave you with a picture of my favorite air dry clays...until next time folks...hugs...christen
